WGU Ohio’s Targeted “Tech Is Everywhere” Scholarships Will Help More Ohioans Stake a Claim to Rewarding IT Careers

With more and more businesses seeking workers with professional-level skills in information technology, Western Governors University Ohio (WGU Ohio) is now offering targeted scholarships — up to $2,500 each — to help more Ohioans build rewarding careers in IT.

We call these our Tech Is Everywhere scholarships because the need for technology professionals — software developers, computer system managers, cybersecurity specialists, data analysts, and more — is truly everywhere across the jobs market, in virtually every category of business and industry. Recent news of Intel’s multibillion-dollar plan to manufacture advanced microchips in Ohio, with the additional spin-off industries that investment is likely to attract, is just the latest indication that this growing “everywhere” trend has a long way to go in our state.

WGU Ohio’s Tech Is Everywhere scholarships everywhere provide $625 per six-month term — as much as $2,500 each — to students who are seeking a bachelor’s or master’s degree in one of WGU’s 13 accredited IT programs. These scholarships are also available to those with existing IT jobs who want to upskill their credentials in order to advance their careers. And we don’t forget WGU alumni who are seeking a second degree.
